Sweet Serendipity - Final Chapter

Have not been blogging for a very very very long time...

Have been so busy and tied up with club activities and college studies..

Some how, what I'm going through these days doesn't fit this blog.. guess my college dilemmas and adventures doesn't quite fit into my sweet teenage school days.. =)

Thus, this is going to be the last post for Sweet Serendipity.. =)

Am really grateful to this blog which accompanied me up and down the emotional roller coaster of my teenage years and of course my readers and friends~ ^___^ truly love yall! *hugs*

Will i stop blogging u ask? Definitely NOT! =P Blogging is like a relaxation therapy to me~ though nobody might be interested in reading the junk i write, i will still litter the internet with a few pieces of my mind~ =P

This is definitely not a good bye, just a see you again..

It took me much effort to not go for a second round as the amount of food provided was just nice for the people who attended.. =P I totally loved the spaghetti and..

Denise's Thoughts

MSS was truly truly an amazing experience for me..

Initially, i joined the contest just for fun.. 6D5Ns of FREE luxurious travel around Selangor leh~ Who would be so stupid as to give it a pass? =P I had a blog so.. joinlah~ haha..

Besides the VIP + red carpet treatment we had throughout the trip, what I really enjoyed was the time I spent together with my fellow MSS bloggers~ Such a mix of different people from different places all shared one common interest - blogging~ There's totally nothing like it! Everywhere we went, I personally felt that i was with a group of paparazzi the whole time! Almost half of us had big pro-looking DSLRs hanging around their necks while the rest of us was armed with a Pentax camera, flashing at anything and everything no matter where we went~

Common topics on the table would be about cameras, events and of course, blogging~ =P Even though MSS is a blogging competition, we were never really rivals fighting for victory but more like friends going for a trip and having fun.. =)

Furthermore, I've really learned a lot about blogging~ (cuz i didn't have much knowledge to begin with XD) Before MSS, blogging to me was a way to keep up with my friends.. a group of my friends had blogs, so we would be reading and commenting on each other's blogs.. besides that, it was a lil online diary to keep track of all the events and dates that I simply don't want to forget.. it's just that simple~ =) However, after MSS.. I've learnt of the importance and how influential social media such as blogs truly are.. Some people blog for money, some their passion like running, traveling and etc, while some blog just for fun and about their life.. Now, everywhere i look on the internet are blogs! Its like seeing the blogging world for the first time! I must have been living under a rock before MSS~ XD haha..

MSS has truly been an eye opening experience for me.. A huge thank you to the organisers, Horizon Communications, Tourism Selangor, the gracious sponsors and hosts and to all the amazing MSS bloggers~*japanese bow*

GLITZ-ing @ Genting

Last Friday, all the MSS bloggers were invited by Resorts World Genting to watch..

GLITZ!

GLITZ is the brand new resident show at Resorts World Genting~ =)

So, i meet up with MSS bloggers Zaid, Kak Zara, WenYi, Spectre, Dylan, Max, Victor, Nicole, TianChad and Feeq at KL Central at 6pm to take a bus up to Genting~ ^___^ i also met a new blogger - Joshua Law! =) and not forget, some fans of RWGenting also joined us for the trip! The bus was delayed and it was raining when we made our way up Genting.. Was quite scared cuz many buses were involved in road accidents recently.. XD

Once we reached Genting, we headed straight to Coffee Terrace for our buffet dinner~ ^____^ hahaha... talk about SPEED eating, we had like, the SHORTEST buffet ever~ =P due to our bus's delay, we only had like, 20 to 30 minutes for our buffet dinner~ XD when Denise (Genting's lenglui PR staff ) said that we still had 5 minutes left, Nicole, Wen Yi and I rushed straight to the ice-cream bar! XD LOLZ~

In the end, we still managed to enjoy ourselves and kept our tummies pretty well fed~ =)

Next stop, the highlight of the night..

the amazing acrobats from HuaChen Acrobatic Group!

Their performances were phenomenal!! Charles illusionary magic and his escape from the straight jacket was very impressive, not to mention Daria's graceful hands sweeping across the board creating extraordinary works of sand~ her sand art of MJ was very lifelike! But what got me ooh-ing and aah-ing like a kid in my seat that night was HuaChen's spetacular acrobats by the young girls~ XD The dangerous stunts that they pulled were totally breath taking and unexpected! ❤❤❤ a definite must watch!

The hour and half's show breezed to its end however, for the MSS bloggers, it's SHOWTIME! =P

My Selangor Story - Chapter 6 l Bye Bye... For Now ;)

Woke up with a heavy feeling…

Everybody will be going back to their home and to their busy lives today.. Actually some already had.. the bloggers from Indonesia – Alid, Fadli, Citra and Husni boarded their flight back early that morning.. Some of the local bloggers had also left the hotel by the time I went down for breakfast..

Sorry I don’t have any more pictures to show cuz I had to return the Pentax camera to Amelia that morning..

Spent the last hour in thristhan’s room playing Bluff and Heart Attack with a few other bloggers.. ^__^

Left the hotel and followed mum back around 2pm..

After spending an escapade of 6 days 5 nights with this bunch of cute and interesting bloggers, I am surely going to miss them after MSS.. Truthfully speaking the whole trip with them did not feel like a competition at all, but a group of friends fooling around and having fun! No kiasu-ness, no rivalry. I truly appreciate the friends I’ve made through MSS~ =)

Hopefully, we will keep in touch and have the opportunity to meet and travel again~ =)

Early the next morning, i woke up to be greeted by...

She said that she woke up very early to cook as she'll be catering for some event later on.. Can't help but feeling that life have been tough for her..

It's just Mak Cik and Kak Huni living together, no guys, therefore the house is rather under maintained..

After a delicious breakfast of ketupat and rendang, we left our foster families..

We made our way back to the city and checked into Sunway Tower Hotel~

Ah~~ soft comfy beds!!! XD

I noticed that my room was wayyy bigger than the other bloggers room~ Why?

Cuz my room caters to people in wheel chairs! It has a large area for wheelchairs to maneuver and notice that the toilets have thick stainless steel bars for extra support~

After settling down, we proceeded to Sunway Pyramid (which is joint to Sunway Hotel) for lunch~

The food was delicious, it tastes like homecooked dishes! suddenly make me miss my foster family in Kampung Dorani.. =P

After lunch, it was free and easy time for us bloggers, so we strolled the mega shopping mall~

Anyways, the Iranian dishes was something special~ =) First time eating Iranian food~ it has this very unique taste that i'm not sure whether i like or dun like.. XD haha.. but it was nice to try something new~ The BBQ served was... overcooked and hard.. XD it took me 10 minutes to chew and swallow my small bite size bbq beef.. XD had to give up on it in the end cuz my jaw was very tired dy.. XD haha.. The best part of the buffet for me was.. The Chocolate Fondue~~~

My Selangor Story - Chapter 3 l From the Hilltop to the Kampung

Rise and shine~ ^___^

Today, I had breakfast at the World Club Lounge~~~ It is a very modern and neat restaurant situated in the First World Hotel.

Love the breakfast buffet~ there was quite a variety of food to suit everybody's breakfast preferences. The food were all so fresh and tasty!! gotta love it~ ^__^

After filling our tummies, it was time to leave Genting Resorts... ='/ berat hati to leave the first class hospitality.. =P but all good things must come to an end, so we packed up and made our way to the lobby..

It was very cool of him to come say goodbye, really appreciate it! =)

So.. off we went~ but before we left the hill,we dropped by the Chin Swee Temple!

This temple was built by Genting's founder, late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong to thank the chinese deity Chin Swee that appeared in his dreams on the night he and a few of his workers were forced to sleepover in a cave at this very site. The Tan Sri Lim then was only a small contractor starting to build roads up to the Genting hilltop. When Chin Swee appeared in his dreams, she assured him that he would be very successful and told him to go on with his vision - to build the Genting Highland Resort.

Apparently, this spot where the temple is built has the best view of Genting~ It took Tan Sri Lim 18 years to built this temple as the terrain was rocky and steep, which made it impossible to utilise modern machinery for fundamental work such as piling.However, with Tan Sri Lim's determination and strong will, the temple was finally completed! This really showsTan Sri Lim's sincerity to Chin Swee.

After we left Chin Swee Temple, we resumed our journey down the hills to... Kanching Waterfalls~~

there were many mischievious monkeys lurking about the entrance, hoping to be fed by visitors. Pls be very careful as they might grab at your belongings XD

After a few flights of stairs, we reached the Level 2 waterfall~ There are lots of levels where a waterfall can be found, so for those who have more stamina, up you go~ ^__^ I heard that the waterfalls further up are even more beautiful and magnificent~

Lunch time!

We da bao-ed KFC for lunch and had a lil picnic at the park benches provided~

*Note: the monkeys in the park are very 'hiong' (ganas) XD so please do not leave leftover food in the rubbish bins provided cuz the monkeys will raid them!! Rubbish will be thrown all over the place by the monkeys!

After lunch, we boarded the bus again and made our way to... Sabak Bernam, Kampung Dorani~

We were received warmly by the villages with kompangs and malay kuih-muih as refreshment~

they even prepared 2 performances for us~

Personally, I found the 'kuda kepang' a lil weird.. XD though the dance and music were traditionally Malay and the costumes were quite okay, however, the Nike shoes and brown dyed hair was really out of place.. =X i would rather they danced bare footed.. ^__^ feels more traditional =P

After the performances, we were spilt into pairs and trios to follow our foster parents home.. however, my original foster parent couldn't make it in the end..='/ so wen yi and I were adopted by Nicole and Dian's foster family~ ^__^ so the four of us went to the same foster home~ =)

They thought us how to weave leaves to make ketupat~ a tradisional Malay food.. after weaving the leaves, rice is filled into the lil weaved basket and cooked..

After 3 hours of practice and a lil help from mak cik i managed to produce... 1 ketupat! XD eh, weaving ketupat not easy you know.. =P

After dinner, we met up with the other bloggers and went to Kuala Selangor to watch Fireflies~~

We boarded a sampan rowed by local boatmen and cruised along the river banks..

The fireflies were truly a scene to behold~ their flickering bodies lighted up the bushes by the river, making the bushes look like christmas trees~ too bad i dun have any pictures to show you guys cuz... i lost my pentax!! T^T why wasn't it in my bag?? i rmb clearly puting it into my bag!! so sad.. Amelia's gonna kill me.. T_____T

We also watched a short educative video clip introducing the fireflies at the mini theater after the boat ride..

Lastly, on our way back, we stopped by a famous place that sells delicious satays for supper~ the Satay Hut~

The satay was good! better than kajang if i may say.. even though i told myself not to eat too much (cuz supper is fattening =P) i ate 5 sticks of it~ the tea served was too sweet for me though..

By the time we made it home to our foster homes, it was already 1am~ XD Ohya, I found my Pentax!!!! *thank God* it fell in Kak Huni's car! XD Thank Q to nicole for helping me find it! =)

My Selangor Story - Chapter 2 l From Rags to Riches

Morning! ^__^ woke up in real good spirits~ Today, we're heading to...

the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre~ ^__^

Have yor heard about Royal Selangor Pewter?

Royal Selangor is amongst the best-known names in pewter, renowned for its innovative designs and fine craftsmanship. Having more than 500 skilled craftsmen in our factory in Kuala Lumpur, the company produces more than 1000 designs.

Founded in 1885 by Yong Koon, his little shop called Ngeok Foh (Jade Peace), handcrafted pewter objects mainly for ceremonial use - such as joss sticks holders, incense burners and candlestands for altars of Chinese homes and temples. It later expanded to items that were sought by the British colonials in Malaya (like tankards, ashtrays and tea services)

Business prospered in pre-war Malaya and when his son Yong Peng Kai took over, he mechanised many of the handcrafting processes to speed up production times. The brand was then known as Selangor Pewter.

From the 1970s, the company began exporting its wares; first to Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, next into Europe and then later to Japan. It now exports to over 20 countries.

In 1992, the company changed its name to Royal Selangor to reflect its diverse product range that had extended beyond pewter and its royal warrant bestowed by HRH The Sultan of Selangor.

And our tour begins~

First, a lil history..

There were many different pewter products dating way back to the 1890s~ Back then, pewter was used to make money, pots, sculptures and etc..

Next, the workers demonstrated a few simple pewter crafting techniques~ these skills requires a great deal of patience and experience, thus most of the workers are women.. =P

What I especially like was the Wall of Appreciation! (named by me =P) On the walls are the pewter hand prints of workers who have served Royal Selangor faithfully for more than 5 years! It really shows how much Royal Selangor's appreciates and recognizes their loyal staff~

Now, to the most exciting part of the tour...

The School Of Hard Knocks!

Here, we get to shape and customize our very own pewter plate~

Firstly, we were given a flat and round piece of pewter, 2 hammers, a wooden mould and a tray of 26 alphabet metal stamps~

Then, we hammered our initials on the flat piece of pewter. Once that's done, its time to knock Knock KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!! ^___^ We spent a good 10 minutes knocking the flat piece of pewter into a concave curve by placing it in the wooden mould provided.

After all that hard work, RS rewarded us with a lil teabreak with sandwiches and mouth watering cakes in their nice and cosy cafeteria~ ^___^

An unexpected surprise appear in a red cheongsam during the teabreak~ =P

The grandaughter of the founder of Royal Selangor, Miss Chen turned up to greet us!!

She even told us the story of the lucky melon teapot which was crafted personally by her grandfather and how the found teapot found its way back to the family~

‘It is World War II. Bombs fall as hungry villagers raided warehouses for food.

Amidst the mayhem, a villager named Ah Ham spotted a melon-shaped teapot on the ground. As he bent to pick it up, he heard a piece of shrapnel whizz just above his head. The melon teapot had saved his life!

For many years, the teapot was Ah Ham’s constant companion. He used the teapot daily and often entertained his guests with his wartime story and his miraculous brush with death.

Ah Ham’s lucky teapot is an original creation by Royal Selangor’s founder. Stamped with the hallmark Yu He Zu Xi or Jade Peace Pure Tin, it now has a place of honour in Royal Selangor’s archives.’

The above is the story of the melon teapot engraved on the walls of the Visitor Centre. Exactly how did the lucky teapot returned to the family?

Miss Chen told us the fateful meeting of her husband and Ah Ham. Over tea, Ah Ham related his wish to have the lucky teapot polished to Miss Chen's husband, who coincidently had a wife who worked in a pewter factory. So, Miss Chen's husband took the teapot back to Miss Chen who discovered the teapot's origin! How lucky indeed!^^

The RS Visitor Centre also has a souvenir shop that sells all kinds of amazing pewter products such as tea set, paintings, chess sets, statues and etc. However, the souvenirs are quite costly due to the delicate craftsmanship required.

After spending the entire morning at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, we hopped onto our bas and made our way up the winding roads of...

Genting Highlands~

Wait. Isn't Genting Highlands in Pahang? Why are we going there for MSS?

Initially, that was what i thought too.. but i found out later that rupa-rupanya Genting Highlands sit on the border of Selangor and Pahang!

After an hour's plus ride up the to Genting, we were received warmly by Genting's PR staff~ a few smart looking ladies and gentlemen were standing at the main entrance of Genting Hotel welcoming us bloggers~ honoured honoured~ XD

Then, all of us bloggers plus some senior executives welcomed our VVIP YB Elizabeth Wong, the Selangor EXCO for Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment~

We later then proceeded to the Coffee Terrace at Genting Hotel to have lunch with YB and the senior exec of Genting~

They even prepared a banner backdrop for us~

The food was deeelicious~ though i had a lil problem with the satay..

We also received a fully coloured hardcovered photo book of Genting, ALL PARK ticket access of Genting Theme Park and RM 100 Holiday Card that we can use to shop in Genting!! Wee~ What a thoughful gift~ ^__^ we also received a Genting World card with 10,000 points already debited to it!! Genting is really a very gracious host.. Thank Q!! =)

After lunch, we were lead to the Visitor's Galleria for a short briefing about Genting Highlands~ Another surprise was also revealed to us at the end of the briefing.. We were going to watch the live performance DAZZLE at 9pm tonight~~ What's more? we're getting VVIP front row seats!! *YEAH~* Can't wait! ^__^

Then, we finally got to check into our rooms~ We are staying in the First World Hotel~ all 27 bloggers had a whole room to ourselves!! awesome~ =P btw, did you know that the First World Hotel is the LARGEST HOTEL IN THE WORLD?!?!? ^__^ this is because it has the highest numbers of rooms~

Felt like immediately crawling into the inviting arms of the clean linen bedsheets of my bed.. However, we still had a few tasks to complete! So, after depositing our luggage in our rooms, a few of us gathered at 5pm and...

got our ALL PARK ACCESS passes~ time to rumble!! haha.. we only had less than two hours left to raid the theme park!! Had lots of fun with rides like the roller coaster, pirate ship, kiddie dumbo ride..

By the time we left the theme park, it was already approaching 8pm! We had some simple Oriental food at 好味 restaurant and gathered at the entrance of The Pavilion (not the one in KL =P) promptly to watch DAZZLE~

Though we were given special permission to take pictures of the performances, there were certain acts such as the Jerome Murat, the Invisible Man and the Astonishing Shadows were not to be photographed. But Youtube has plenty of videos on these performances~ haha.. so feel free to search and watch k? this is a short advertorial video i found on Youtube of DAZZLE~

The Show kicked off with the very artful performance of the Jerome Murat~ too bad i dun have any pictures of the act..

The Dancers performed quite a number of awesome dances for us that night~ i really admire their stamina~ though i think some of the guys in the crowd are admiring different aspects of the dancers.. =P

There was also the famous magician Ernesto Planas with his Umbrella tricks~ seriously dunno how he made so many umbrellas appeared! haha.. he is quite a good Latin dancer too~

The funniest part was when he tried to teach us MAGIC and asked one of our MSS blogger Spectre to be his volunteer~

He made Spectre guess in which of his hands lay the small bundle of tissue paper. When Spectre made his choice, it turned out that both of his hands were empty! In reality, he threw the tissue paper behind spectre while he was not aware! And an assistant was collecting the tissue papers the magician threw~ The puzzled face on Spectre's face was totally hilarious! XD The magician even made his slipper disappear through the same method~ haha..

Quick Change! Observe.. She was wearing the yellow dress.. and when the blinds went up for about 2 seconds, she emerged in the blue dress!!

One of my favourite performance was the Presto Quick Change! It was really incredible!! How can she change in just a few seconds?? And she doesn't seem to be wearing layers of clothes either! =P

There was also the Astonishing Shadows and the Invisible Man acts performed by Sonny Fontana~ Both are truly outstanding performances that were really eye opening! I didn't know that one could make so many different shadows! All know is the rabbit and dog hand shadows.. XD haha.. The Invisible Man was also truly a sight to behold as you could see 'nobody' in a safety suit riding a bicycle! XD

After the show ended, I went back to my room and had a long hot soothing bathe in the bathtub! Sooo relaxing~~~ ^___^

Thank God we received news that we need not blog about the trip till after the trip! yeay!

This is how i feel right now. =) I don’t even know how to begin this post! XD The My Selangor Story (MSS) competition has been a real eye opener for me! Totally swept me off my feet~ =P

Well, I have to start somewhere.. so, here’s MY Selangor Story~ =)

23rd September 2010 (Thurs)

Ready and Set!

Uncle came and picked me up from home at 2.20pm. (Uncle! You were supposed to come at 2pm!! XD Venue? Skypark Terminal at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport aka the old Subang Airport~ *excited* ^__^ Upon reaching, i was amazed at how modern and new it was! From the way people say 'old' Subang Airport, i expected a 'lao kap' and dingy place! it turned out to be very a modernistic place with CLEAN toilets! XD

Met up with the bloggers and the organisers at the cosy Kapitan Kopitiam who graciously hosted a lil tea party cum opening ceremony for us~~

Finally~ I get to meet the bloggers that i’ve been stalking for the past few weeks!! ;) Most of us bloggers are from Selangor, however there were oso 3 participants from Indonesia and 1 from Singapore! Firefly have kindly sponsored our comrades and flew them in~ ;) the 3 Penangites oso get a free flight too~ they get to fly FOC! Plus I heard they got VIP treatment leh~ Syok right? =P I want.. too bad I’m living in Selangor? XD haha..

Was a lil nervous at first because i don’t know anybody at all!!! XD this is the first time I’m travelling with total strangers! Huge breakthrough on my part~ =P but we got to know each other while having teh tarik~ =)

After saying goodbye to the friendly staff of Firefly, we boarded our bus and checked into a modest and simple room at the Carlton Hotel in Shah Alam~

After settling down, we met at the Hotel's ballroom to collect our Pentax cameras!! These cameras were lent to us throughout the trip and for people like me who does not own a camera *sobs*, Pentax was our lifesaver! Hurray Pentax!! ^___^

Well, Amelia is not really old enough to be our mummy, but i think all the bloggers who participated enjoyed the whole trip which was meticulously planned by her. Without her, the whole competition would not have been possible and we would not have enjoyed all the VVIP treatments~ Amelia was the mastermind behind MSS which caused her many sleepless nights and stress.. In the end, she managed to pull through and deliver! *salute* really appreciate all that she has done for us bloggers! =) She is truly an amazing woman with a fun and outgoing personality! You are my SUPERWOMAN~~ ^___^

Ohya, not to forget we were introduced to our lovely patrons from Tourism Selangor too~

I - city, Shah Alam!!!

YES!! Have never been there, wanted to go there for AGES! =P

Before we were let loose to explore, we attended a talk by Mr. Eu Hong Chew, the CEO of I-city!! The honour! Greatly humbled and overwhelmed..

According to Mr.Eu, I-city started 5 years ago, and to date is only 15% completed! I city aims to provide a campus environment with world class infrastructure eg. by having its own sources of power supply and installing a fiber optic network to enable warp-speed transmission of data! Hopefully with the high tech infrastructure and high speed internet connection, I-city will be able to draw the knowledge community to it. =)

After stuffing ourselves with our yummy dinner, we were let loose to stroll around~

butterfly? or moth? =P

we saw lots of families, groups of friends and couples strolling around and taking pictures too~ I-city is truly a budget-friendly place that brings people together to strengthen relationships.. No wonder 70 000 people per week choose to spend their time here~ =)

Besides that, I-city's decorations are very festive~ It makes me feel like Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas all happening at the same time! =)

There are also other interesting attractions such as the Safari Park and the Snow Room~ However, a small amount of additional fees are needed to gain entrance to these places.. its a pity that many people especially big families wouldn't be able to see the cute light figures in these places as they would want to save on the fees charged.. Hopefully I-city will allow free access to these areas too in the future~ =)

Ohya, have I introduced Kak Ning? She is our tour guide throughout MSS~ Kak Ning is a very knowledgeable and cheerful tour guide who loves to crack jokes about the foreign tourist that she used to lead. XD Her stories could easily fill a travel blog! ^^ haha.. after mingling with us bloggers, she is considering to start a blog too~ I really hope i get to read it soon~ =)

Due to limited time, i missed the souvenir shop.. =/ apparently there are all kinds off cool LED light toys.. Must stop by next time and have a look.. =P

Its the new era of Uptown everybody~ long gone are the 80's fun fairs and even the 90's pasar malams.

Uptown Shah Alam started operating on the 1st of May 2006. It now has hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of things such as food, clothes, shoes, accessories, pets and etc. Besides that, the stalls are all roofed so that rainy days won't destroy their goods and shoppers can continue shopping without being wet! ^__^

The Selangor Child

On the early morn of 20 April 1990, when the sun was rising and everyone was scrambling to settle into their daily routine of school or work, a newborn’s animated cries and chuckles could be heard coming softly from the maternity ward. There, in the warm embrace of its mother lay the little one, enjoying its first taste of life and lovingly guarded by a proud and young couple as they too were savoring their first taste of parenthood. When the baby was discharged, the young couple brought the child home, to the first home it ever knew – a little town in Sepang, Selangor.

As the years passed,

the child grew while exploring the vicissitudes of life,

traveling to various places,

and meeting with lots of people from all walks of life.. =)

She is adventurous,

daring,

a great poser, XD

and optimistic~ ^_^

Her travels had taught her to not take everything for granted,

to appreciate the people around her,

especially her loved ones ^^

to appreciate the beautiful environment that God created,

and to appreciate the home that she has.. =)

No matter how beautiful other places seem to be

or how tasty their food may be

or how friendly the people can be

Home is always the best for she ~

Truly, there is no place like home~ ^_^

Selangor has been the place I called home ever since I was born.

No matter how far I travelled, Selangor would always welcome me back with open arms, like a mother welcoming her child back home.. =)

Sepang CMC Carnival

Went down to mum's hometown, Sepang for the weekend ~

i drove ;) haha.. just to show mum that i can in fact drive safely for a long distance =P

Sepang CMC is having a Carnival to fund their new education block, so we'll be helping out at the sales booths =)

FRIDAY

Left home around 3pm.. dropped by Sepang town for tea.. a TRADITIONAL kopitiam that serves TRADITIONAL kopi and toast that costs TRADITIONAL prices~ =D

After tea, we returned to our car to find a flat tyre!! I swear it wasn't flat when i drove it!! XD guess mum was doubtful.. =P Thank God there was a repair shop a few shops away from the kopitiam =P

Anyways, we reached Sg. Pelek safely =) went to Tanjung Sepat for seafood dinner with mum's friends~ yum yum ^^

SATURDAY

Woke up at 5.30am and got to the Carnival venue at 7am.. It was raining heavily then.. Thank God the weather was beautiful after the morning's rain =) i was assigned to help out at the blood test booth.. giving out numbers and helping them with the registration.. was too busy to take any photos XD there was lots of people in the morning as they wanted to get their blood test done to end their 8-10 hours fast.. I oso took my first blood test that day..

Well, i think i wasn't afraid of the needle.. XD but still the needle did look rather intimidating.. XP haha..

Busy busy busy busy.. there was lots of home cooked yummy food, sushi king oso came and opened a booth~ ^^ all sorts of things were on sale too, u name it we've got it ;) haha.. guess the booth that drew in the most revenue was the games booths! XD there were lots of attractive prizes eg mountain bike, SE handphone, toys.. we oso had a blood donation drive and kids colouring contest~ the carnival ended successfully at 2pm, by the time we cleared everything and got home it was already 3+pm.. Nap time! =P

Went home after breakfast to attend our church service =) simply love~ the RM 2.50 wan tan+char siew mee we had for breakfast! XD

Footsteps in the Sand

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his life.

two sets of footprints in the sand,
one beloning to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the

This bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,

The Lord replied "My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffereing,

How can i thank God for His unconditional love?
How can i repay God's abundant grace in my life?
Hope that i can share God's unconditional love and love others as He loves others too..
May I carry my own cross and follow Jesus' footsteps faithfully throughout my life... =)

30th July ~ 1st August

Just came back from 迎新生活营（+ - x /）2010 ~ Am dead tired right now XD haven't been exercising regularly, thus am suffering muscle pain from the excessive outdoor activities that we had! XD on the whole, it was quite fun despite not really knowing anybody before the camp =P Made some very awesome friends~ ;) this camp was held specially to welcome first year students to uni life, many UPM students attended the camp as UPM is the nearest uni~ come to think of it, if i hadn't choose to study in ATC, i would be one of the UPMers! =D haha.. basically, i'm the ONLY student that comes from Serdang! 80-90% of the students are from Sarawak~~ and they are all Fukchows! XD makes me very guilty when they speak fukchow, cuz i'm a fukchow illiterate fukchow!! ah!! XD need mix around more to learn fukchow from them =P anyways, who cares where you're from and what ethnicity you are? God loves everybody regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality and etc! God always loves the person on the inside, so should we~ =) Had a great time with my new friends, lots of laughs, lots of fun~ ;)

Woke up at 5am on the 31st to climb Broga Hill to see the sunrise~ it wasn't an easy climb up, but we made it in the end, the beautiful scenery and fresh air made the exhaustive climb worthwhile! =) ohya, met bowl and xing and co too! surprise surprise~ ^_^

After returning to the campsite, we had obstacle courses XD did some really extreme activities for the first time =P FIRST time playing flying fox, rock climbing and leap of faith~

All geared up~ Flying fox here i come~~

was very very gan jiong cuz it was my first time facing the flying fox obstacle.. it was really an ecstatic experience~ =P was soooooo tensed when i jumped, however, when i relaxed and i started to appreciate the beautiful bird's eye view, and before i knew it the ride was over.. =P

The activity that made the most impression was the

Leap of Faith..

We had to don on a full body harness and climb a super tall tree, reach the mini platform and JUMP!!! our target was to catch hold of a black horizontal pole hanging in mid air.. XD

Learn from the Past,

Live in the Present,

Plan for the Future.

That is what I've learnt form 'The Present'.. I realised that i do not spend enough time LIVING in the PRESENT and focusing on the task at hand =P it's amazing how often I let my mind wonder during classes and even during conversations with others! XD

Ding Dong~ it's high time for me to learn from my past, focus on the present and plan for my future~

This book has been a valuable wake up call for me.. =)

I highly recommend these 2 books to be read by those who have not.. since i am currently in possession of both, please feel free to borrow them from me as these books prove to be ~~very~~ quite costly.. =)

Next book on my list is..

Mum had to attend a Techer's Day Dinner in Putrajaya.. so, that made Chef Denise in charge of dinner for the 3 girls left at home =P It was a perfect opportunity to try something new that my mum abhores~ Lasagna~ ^__^

First, prepare the ingredients~

4 lagsana sheets, half a bottle of prego sauce, a cup of milk, 6 pieces of Cheesedale Cheddar, 250g of minced beef, 2 tbs of butter and flour, oil, Parmesan cheese powder, oregano, salt + pepper, chopped half a carrot, 1 onion and 5 cloves of garlic.

Then, cook the meat sauce. heat the oil, sauté the onion, garlic and carrot, add the beef and cook till it turns brown. After that, add the prego sauce ( actually people make their own tomato sauce from tomatoes and stuff, using prego is cheating XD ) and water and let it boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Next, the cheese sauce~ melt 2 tbs of butter and stir in 2 tbs of flour over small fire. Then, remove the pan/pot from the heat and add 2 cups of milk. Put it back over the heat and add in the sliced cheddar cheese. (Packets of cheese sold in supermarket are sooo expensive, so i opted for sandwich cheese which turned out ok too ^^) Stir the mixture all the while (u won't want it to burn ) till it is smooth.

Lastly, we layer the it~ start with the meat sauce at the bottom, then layer it accordingly - lasagna, meat sauce, cheese sauce. Keep repeating the layers and end with the cheese sauce right on the top. I managed to complete 4 layers only as my baking dish is too small.. Used up only half of the cheese sauce, so will reduce the cheese sauce recipe by half next time. =P Sprinkle a lil cheese powder on top and walah~ it's ready for the oven =)

I added a lil too much cheese powder on the top, which surprisingly doesn't melt in the oven =.= anyways, preheat the oven at 200 degree Celsius and cover the dish with aluminium foil before baking it for 40 minutes. Only remove the aluminium foil for the last 10 minutes

Remember my previous post bout how ready i was bout studying LAW? if u do, forget all about it!! Studying law is CRAP!!! The mountains load of information that we need to read and know is IMPOSSIBLE!! The acts, the case studies, the analysis! How could i be sooooo NAIVE~ How the hell am i supposed to write 12 pages of facts for my exam in 3 hours??? I didn't sign up for this Sh*t!!

I QUIT!! Going back to UPM next week!

Seriously, do u think I'd do that? XD I'm not going back to UPM lah..=P just fooling around.. But the reading and exam part of the above was real.. XD So.. almost done with week 2 of my Lex (law in Latin~) studies and am somehow or another enjoying myself.. =P No maths~~ Am finally free of its 13 years of torture~~ ^__^ however, every page i flip now is all covered in words.. words, Words, WORDS!! Am missing the colourful bio cell diagrams and molecule structures.. XD Seriously, there's lots of reading to do, if u don't like reading its gonna be pure torture!!

There's also one downside bout studying at ATC... No campus life!!! T^T all my friends who entered public uni posted on facebook about how they were torturous their orientation week was.. am so envious XD well, at least they've experienced it before.. most of the atc seniors are still on holiday.. they will only be back in sept..

Have not got my textbooks yet.. i have to be officially accepted as a student of the University of London External Program before getting my textbooks flown from UK.. am in the process of applying now.. in the mean time.. we're photostatting! XD talk about copyright infringement.. haha.. hm.. so far the lessons are.. fast? XD we've already finished the first chapter in Contract L and Criminal L.. O.O its seems that the higher up the academic ladder we climb, the faster the teachers teach.. have to get used to studying law.. need to find my style of studying~ XD no more spoon feeding~ XD actually am still a lil in the holiday mood..XD have to jiayou orh~ no more procrastinating! =P plus, i got myself in a debate! XD Should UK adopt a written constitution? I'm on the supporting team.. hm.. think i better start doing research for the debate next week instead of blogging.. =P

Some times there is no next time, no second chance, no time out. Sometimes... it's now or never!

got to know this around 2am last last friday.. XD of all my eight choices that i submitted.. this is my LAST choice.. Didn't anticipate this turn of events as i thought i would have gotten my first choice (UM's English) or at least my second ( UM's TESL) as my results definitely qualify me for them.. was ~~very~~ quite ~~devastated~~ upset bout it.. XD however, there is still hope.. once i report to upm, i have to go to upm's lauguage faculty and enquire IF there are any empty seats available.. IF there is an empty slot, i need to go back to my own faculty admin to ask for a transfer with the language faculty's consent.. IF my faculty does not want to let me go.. i have to study biochem for a semester.. Get good results and IF i'm lucky, i'll get transferred to the course i want.. IF i cant get a transfer, i need to complete my first year and try all over again.. XD

Was quite ready to take on this path when suddenly my mum's friend suggested that I might as well be studying law! Me study law? the absurdity! XD haha.. I've never considered that career path as i know i'm that outspoken type that likes to argue.. Law has always been a very elusive subject to me.. with thick volumes of books and outspoken people.. plus lawyers seem to be like elites.. black suit, black briefcase, stressful office job..
However, finding some info about it won't harm me right?
So, i started talking to people.. law students.. biochem graduates.. reading stuff.. and through them i really gained a lot of insight of what i was getting into if i were to study law or biochem.. Well, basically, biochem is more of bio.. its about the cell's biochemistry reaction.. therefore i'm going to study my form 6 bio in more minute details.. plus a lil maths and chemistry calculations.. hm.. the job prospects.. my friend is going for her masters that is not really related to her field.. some work at labs.. most goes into sales and marketing of scientific products.. direct sales.. Amway.. insurance..@.@ i dun want that! basically.. i can't imagine myself doing serious research either.. playing in the lab and copying results is one thing.. finding a cure for cancer is another.. XD

Suddenly, law doesn't seem as intimidating as it used to be.. mountains of reading is involved.. never ending case studies.. a good command of English is required.. and also of course thinking and communicating skills ( who want a lawyer that can't think and can't speak?)... self discipline and perseverance.. basically if i work hard, i'll be able to get through.. reading volumes shouldn't be a problem to me.. plus no maths! XD alot of people keep asking me.. Are u interested in law? i find it hard to answer because i've never done it before! XD if u ask me bout history and PA i'd say yes its interesting to me.. okay, maybe i'm not as knowledgeable and up to date bout politics and government policies like some of my schoolmates are (eg. Ah Boon) XD but i do think i can do this =) maybe i'm tired of trying to understand things like chemistry.. or comprehending maths that i cant seem to be able to solve by myself.. the reason i pulled through stpm was through lots of practice.. PA was by far the easiest subject for me.. (probably for many others too) =P the more i think about it the more i like the idea of studying law. Why have i never considered studying law before this?? XD It's definitely not going to be a stroll in the park.. but i do believe i can accomplish this =)

Found out more about studying law in ATC in KL.. surprisingly the fees does not amount to 100k.. the whole degree program costs about 45k.. inclusive of books, exam fees and etc.. going to apply for PTPTN loan which covers it.. Went to ATC yesterday just to enquire more info.. and i ended up registering with a mere deposit of rm50 and was ushered to class.. XD but guess what? there were already 4 CHSians in class~ =P Zhao Ying, See Khee, Yen Hsien and Yet Han.. plus me, 5, plus boon next week, 6! Well at least there are some familiar faces =) the lessons started.. i've already missed 2 classes, however the lecturers are still going very slow.. giving out sound advices and telling us what to expect of the coming year.. some lecturers have already started a lil on their lesson.. even though some of the times i'm not familiar with the topic however it is nothing that i can't read up by myself.. after the day's lesson, i realised that i have a lot of reading to catch up on.. Thank God for the internet! ^^ haha..
so basically, i'll be doing Contract Law, Common Law, Criminal Law and Public Law for my first year.. 4 subjects per year for 3 years.. so.. i'm taking an hour long bus ride from my home to kl and back again.. not to mention the walk from home to bus stop and from bus stop to ATC.. haha.. so far lessons will be conducted 3 days per week.. the only thing i'm going to miss will be my campus life.. which is a huge part of uni experience.. cuz ATC doesn't have a campus.. =/ and there are only like.. 8 clubs to join.. XD

I know that i don't know a lot of things that i should.. however, i'm willing to learn.. =) maybe i'm not as ambitious and as passionate as others are.. maybe i'm very naive and am not aware of the hot soup i'm getting myself into.. however, i'll perservere.. when there's a will, there's a way~ I don't know whether is this what God planned for me.. However, i know that He'll always be with me ^__^

At the end of the day i asked myself, is this what i want? me studying law is very sudden.. is this a rash decision? do i still want to study biochem in upm? cuz i'm only reporting at upm this sunday.. i can still make it if i want to... do i want to??
i smiled... cuz i already know my answer... =)

Watched Prince of Persia at 6.55pm at Cheras Selatan today~ ^__^

Hm.. the movie was nice. haha.. but if u compare it with the awesome Pirates of the Caribbean.. Prince would be an average good =P Guess my movie expectations are quite high.. haha.. However, some of Prince's scenes were very well shot =) Some of the surreal fightings scenes really made me jump in my seat. haha.. did u know that this movie was originally a video game?

After many months of saving, i finally got a new phone~ ^^

Well... it's not really brand new.. I bought this 3-5 month old baby for rm800 =P (original price is rm1599) Though there are a few scratches, which are not really noticeable, it is still a fair bargain for a good phone. =) Touchscreen, 5MP camera + secondary camera, dolby speaker, 8GB in built memory, wifi, 3G and etc.. hm.. the screen detects heat therefore pens and fingernails are useless.. it also has a 4 customizable interfaces - communication, multimedia, contacts and widgets. I get to choose which contacts, songs, pics, apps and widgets that i use the most to display on these interfaces which is very handy ^_^ but the background of the interfaces are un-customizable.. unlike Sony Erricson phones, Arena can't use cute cute themes.. i can only change the wallpaper..XD My only and main setback is.. i have to charge it almost everyday! @.@ the big screen demands lots of power.. not sure is it bcuz of a weak battery, or maybe i'm playing with it too much.=P it still has 7 months of warranty left, will go back to the shop if the battery proves problematic..

Just finished reading this... if u haven't read this, i highly recommend that u do =) this is a splendid read~ its the kind of story that dwarfs the stress, financial issues, relationship problems and etc that we face in our life, the kind that makes u feel very very lucky just to be sitting here.. Sometimes we really need reads like this to just remind us that how truly lucky we really are and that we should always ALWAYS be grateful.. this story depicts the wars which were happening in Afghanistan a few years back.. which also lead to the 911 incident.. how war tore families apart, how thousands of innocent people were killed, how Islamic women were oppressed and abused.. and the saddest part is even though the characters were fictional, in reality, the truth is that there were many who suffered the fate of these characters or an even worser fate than them..

Hope to get my hands on this next, does anyone have it? =) there's a movie also.. =P

Sports Day~~

For the CHSians, u know how its like.. ;) The usual hunt for recyclable items, shopping for pelaka, cooking glue, getting costumes done, and 1001 things to do. XD haha.. Well, this year, Amy has been busy with these stuff.. I only pop by the Hijau room every once in awhile to see how the juniors are doing.. (btw, i'm a red house teacher this year.. but im still helping the greens anyway.. =P) so, after much preparation, the big day finally arrived~ haha..

This year, as a teacher, i was assigned as a Hakim Penamat. sounds grand right? XD haha.. basically we just sit at the benches at the finishing line to see who finish first, second and etc.. And well, since we have a new Photography Club, a dozen or so students were seen everywhere snapping shots with their very pro(expensive too) DSLRs. XD so, without furthur ado, let me show u their fruits of labour~ this is gonna be a very picturey post! haha.. enjoy! =)

Have been planning for quite some while to upgrade our dinosaur desktop..XD finally, the time has come to put our words into action!^^ Took the ktm and lrt to the PC fair in KLCC with Adam to scout around for pc parts as Adam said that he will help us assemble a new CPU~ Our budget? RM1000! =P Couldn't find the parts that we wanted in KLCC so we proceeded to Low Yat Plaza around noon.. And the really shopping began~ =P We went around scouting and comparing prices for various pc parts and accessories with utmost care... round and round and round... The results? hehe.. we bought:

My 20th Birthday

Basically, it was just another normal day... Slept as normal, went to school as normal, ate as normal, did the house chores as normal XD...

What wasn't normal was Michelle's good behavior that lasted throughout the day.. XD She did not irk me and helped out with the chores voluntarily! Seriously, if thats how she behaves on my birthday, i'd wish everyday was my birthday! XD haha..

Besides that, my facebook profile and hp had been flooded with birthday wishes and blessings~ =P

Still waiting for comformation on university admission..

Still teaching in CHS... however the gouverment refuses to raise our spm graduate daily pay of rm40 to stpm graduate pay of rm60.. sigh.. no heart dy.. not getting what we're entitled to.. wanted to quit in may... however, Sports Day and TEACHER'S DAY are in may..XD besides, what am i going to do for one whole month? who's going too hire me for one month? so.. i guess i'll quit in june then.. =P

Everybody seems to be very busy recently.. Amy is ever busy with LM stuff, MSSD netball, church... not to mention this is her SPM year.. Michelle, on the other hand... band formation practices, piano classes, school work.. Seems like im the only one with nothing much to do.. thus, im doing lots of housework lately.. sigh.. amy's and michelle's too.. if i don't mum will do them.. which i think she shoudnt.. she needs more rest.. =)

Have been gaining weight recently..XD skirts are tighter.. Oh my.. lack of exercise.. don't move as much as i used to.. plus the the ever present snacks in the staffroom.. XD want to go swimming!! but amy is too busy to go with me.. =/ dare not swim alone.. plus i havent got the swimming cap and goggles that i want.. guess that will just have to wait.. Hope i can get a new handphone which i've been saving for this month~ ^___^

Have been home alone for almost 12 hours today.. mum and sis were busy with school.. woke up and cleaned the WHOLE house this morning.. i even did the chore that i hate most-- i folded the clothes.. ^^ Hand washed the the HAND WASH ONLY garments.. General Paper : A

(i didnt make any careless mistakes this time! ^^ ergo, i got the grade that i deserved!=P unless u count my mistake of mixing GSC- golden screen cinemas and MSG-monosodiumglutamate in my essay bout chemicals.. XD)

English Literature : B+

(I wanted an A++++ =/ haha.. however given the time and what lil guidance ms leela could provide us with and my limited literature background, it's not bad u know... just that i expected more.. XD)

Biology : B+

(Pn. Felicia was soooo disappointed when i told her i got a B+ only.. "Huh?! What happened denise? Why like that?" "Sorry teacher..."then she tried to console me... "Err.. nvm la, still very good.." XD Oh dear... couldn't recall all the facts that i memorised and because bio was the first paper i sat for, i was quite panicky.. Would it have made a difference if i attended tuition classes for it? Only God knows.. haha...)

Maths : B

(I got a B in maths!!!! For a person who was CONSTANTLY FAILING maths, i think i did quite well..^^ seriously worked my 'head' off for that B.. =P)

Chemistry : B-

(I feel very guilty whenever i see Pn.Tan in school...XD i didn't do as much exercises as i was supposed to do.. plus i was more worried bout my maths... So sorry dear chemistry.. =/)

CGPA : 3.415

can someone miraculously turn my 2 B+ into As? XD

Did not get the 3A as i expected..=/ quite disappointed.. however i know i did my best.. even tough my best is rather average.. XD haha.. be contented, be grateful, life goes on~ =)

Am currently applying for uni... UM, UKM, UPM.. NUS..

Though my results are not bad, however they are not good enough as well... Can't get into dentistry in public uni nor earn a scholarship in the private uni for it... Can't fork out 500k either... XD haha.. so... I've applied for a few courses... my first choice for local uni is UM's Bachelor of Arts(English) =P others include tesl, biochem and nutrition.. It's all up to God now.. =)

My comp crashed!! Thank God now it's 'uncrashed' XD haha.. anyway, i managed to retrieve all the old data.. INCLUDING the 4 GB hong kong pictures~ ^^ thought i've lost them, but then again, Thank God~ ^^ haha..

haha.. thought i had enough of that place, but apparently our 'yuan' is not quite over.. haha..

it's a really different experience, being a teacher.. haha.. now i get to do things i've never done before~ haha.. entering bilik peperiksaan, the teacher's canteen, standing along the road while students merentas desa~ haha^^ nice~ apparently, the staff room is also a mini market, so far i've bought only korean strawberries and chinese cookies, but believe me there are many other goods for sale (eg tangerines).. teachers also get to preorder vegetarian food and the restaurant will send them over to school~ not to mention u can really hear gossips flying around..XD haha.. as for the teaching.. haha.. will officially get my timetable after CNY. The form 1s are the cutest~~~XD haha.. so small size! esp the boys.. muahahaha.. though its amazing how they outgrow their cuteness in one year.. XD the form 2s are.. not cute. XD haha..

If life was to be divided into chapters, Form Six definately deserves one.. =) yet sadly or gladly, it has finally come to an end...

Can't really believe it's finally all over~~ hahaha... the studies, the camaraderie, the uniform.. haha.. I'm officially graduating from High School!! ^^ the past year and a half has really been... difficult.. XD haha.. It has really been an eye opener as F6 brought out the best and the worst of me..XD at least now i know i'm seriously not a natural at maths... lolz. The struggle and tears that i went through for the past year and a half has definately made me more mature..XD agree? haha..
Despite the hardships, there were really many sweet moments too~^^ the outings, classroom madness, and friendships~ *smilez* These bittersweet memories will always be etched in my heart~ =)

Wish i can add more to this post, however, words seem to fail me on this occasion.. =)

By the way, a big big THANK YOU i bid to all that have helped and been with me all this while~ u know who u are ;) Thanks for all your moral support and words of encouragement~ couldn't have done it without them, love yall lots~ =)
