A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

A Thousand Splendid Suns recounts the experiences and emotions of two Afghani women, Mariam and Laila, whose lives become entangled with the history of recent wars in their country. Mostly bleak and heart-rending, their story does offer the promise of hope and happiness in a land ravaged by warfare, gender conflicts, and poverty.

Just finished reading this... if u haven't read this, i highly recommend that u do =) this is a splendid read~ its the kind of story that dwarfs the stress, financial issues, relationship problems and etc that we face in our life, the kind that makes u feel very very lucky just to be sitting here.. Sometimes we really need reads like this to just remind us that how truly lucky we really are and that we should always ALWAYS be grateful.. this story depicts the wars which were happening in Afghanistan a few years back.. which also lead to the 911 incident.. how war tore families apart, how thousands of innocent people were killed, how Islamic women were oppressed and abused.. and the saddest part is even though the characters were fictional, in reality, the truth is that there were many who suffered the fate of these characters or an even worser fate than them..

Hope to get my hands on this next, does anyone have it? =) there's a movie also.. =P
